Part 2 of my Rant.
What is with people and thinking that doctors are gods?

That they get a bad rap.

Please!  I have known doctors that make Gregory House look down right sociable.  They don’t see a patient but a dollar sign.

The way I look at it.  A doctor is no different than a mechanic.  Something wrong with your car you bring it and get them to fix it.  They don’t fix it right then you sue or demand your money back.  Its the same when you are sick.  You pay … notice pay … the doctor so he works for you.  That means that he/she is being contracted to solve a problem.  Yes some problems cannot be fixed, but those that can they are under contract to do so.  If he/she causes death or other problems then they are responsible.

Some people at this point is going wait a minute what about the responsibility of the patient.  Ah … you see most people see a doctor as an authority figure.  They do not question and they sure in the hell have no second thoughts.  They take the medicine. They don’t check the internet … hell most seniors don’t even know how to surf let alone own a computer.

Another thing if as a doctor if they prescribing a medicine that has been known to cause suicides, heart attacks, reacts badly with certain medication, etc, etc, etc … then why in the hell prescribe it.  Don’t forget all those kids that kill themselves because they were on Prozac.  Still it is the only anti-depression medication prescribed for children and teens.

There are those out there that will say it’s the parent’s fault for allowing their kids to take the drug.  Really, well Georgie boy is looking at a force mandatory mental-health screening program for America’s children.  That means that a child can be forced by the government to take this “black box” medication against their parent’s wishes.  Hell they are looking to force all of us into a mandatory mental-health screening program.  Don’t believe me then check out this in the WorldNetDaily article http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=39078.

Anyways … back to the topic at hand.

If the patient has been going to the same doctor and pharmacy and dies or is in a coma because of a bad medical reaction then it is the fault of the doctor.  If taking vitamins or any over the counter medicine reacts badly with any prescribed medicine then they should tell their patients, but at the same time why prescribe medicine that reacts badly with over the counter medicine?

Why?  I tell you why because the doctors get paid by the pharmaceutical companies to push their drugs.  That’s why.

If this is a new patient or a one time then it is the responsibility of the doctor to find out what medicine the patient is currently taking, including any over the counter medication.  Before prescribing anything they should contact the patient’s regular doctor and confirm.  Then prescribe medicine.  It would stop a lot of prescription drug abused and over medicating a patient.

As to this crap about self-medication … give me a break.  You have a headache you take an aspirin that is considered self-medicated.  You put a bandage on a cut that is self-medicating. If there is a prescribed medication that reacts badly with over the counter products then why in the hell is it on the market?

Money.  Pure and simple everything comes down to the all mighty dollar.

The above is the articule concering the finding of Heath Ledger’s death. Read the following line:

“What you’re looking at here is the cumulative effects of these medications together” reported by the NY medical examiner.

You see the above line.  It wasn’t due to any single medication but due to a combination of medicine.  He didn’t take too much of one, IT WAS THE COMBINATION that killed him

First he is an actor, he is not a doctor so he wouldn’t know a damn thing about combining medication or what medicine should not be taken with what.

That is the duty of the doctor.

That’s why they go to school after all is to learn all about illness and medicines to HELP there patients.  The doctor should have taken the time and look at all the drugs he/she had prescribed or asked Heath what medicine he was currently taking.  If he/she did then maybe they might have realized that their might be a problem.

No that didn’t happen.

All the majority of doctors seem to be interested is seeing to their next patient and the golf or tennis game that’s coming up.  The doctor prescribes the last brand of whatever their drug representative is pushing and moves on.  It’s like an assembly line at some doctors’ offices

Also at fault for Heath’s death is the FDA and the drug companies.  Why, because they didn’t do their jobs properly.  Come on, think about it.  All those drugs prescribe, you notice prescribed, were common drugs given to people.  The test should have included test with other common prescribed medicines.  Did they?  Who knows?

And yet people blame the victim for his own death.  Heath wasn’t a doctor remember that, he is just like all the rest of us.  He went to a doctor because he was sick, the doctor prescribed him medicine and he took it.  Like any of us would.  We wouldn’t question or say hey I don’t think I should take this, it might react badly.  No we would have done just the same as Heath, go home and take the medicine like the doctor told us to.  We are trusting that the doctor knows what he is doing.

So don’t go blaming Heath for his own death because it could happen to anyone of us or our love ones.  It is the fault of his doctor or doctors.

…. End of rant.
