The symptoms that you are suffering from Menorrhagia are:

1. Soaking a pad or a tampon an hour for serveral hours or more;
2. bleeding for more than a week and a half each month.

The sympthoms that you are suffering from Hypermenorrhagia:

1. Soaks through two or more pads or tampons an hour.

Other symptoms associated with both menorrhagia and hpermenorrhagia are:

1. A menstrual period that lasts longer than 10 days;
2. Menstrual flow that includes large blood clots;
3. Constant pain in your lower abdomen combine with heavy menstrual periods;
4. Anemia;

Causes

1. Hormonal imbalance;
2. Uterine fibroids;
3. Polyps;
4. Dysfunction of the ovaries;
5. Adenomyosis;
6. Intruterine device (IUD);
7. Pregnancy complications;
8. Cancer;
9. Medications;
10. Other medical conditions including pelvic inflammator disease(PID), thyroid problems, endometriosis, and liver or kidney disease.

Complications:

1. Iron deficient anemia;
2. Severe pain;
3. Blood loss;

Seek Medical Care:

1. If you continue to bleed heavily, which 1 or 2 pads or tampons an hour over a 24 hour period.  
2. If you continue to have a cycle after 7 days.

In both cases you hemorrhage which means that you are losing hemoglobin.  Hemogobin is a molecure found inside of red blood cells which carries oxygen from lungs to other organs and tissues.  In the case of excessive bleeding within 24 hours and there is no sign of it stopping contact your doctor and go to the nearest hospital.  Do not drive yourself either take a taxi or have a friend drive you because your blood pressure will be low and you might pass out.

In the case of a longer period contact your doctor and tell them that your period has not lessen or stop.  Make sure to list all the symptoms you can from feeling tire, dizzy to pain.  It is best if a friend drives you to your appointment.  If your doctor ignores or dismisses you then go to the hospital and tell them that you might have menorrhagia and your blood pressure is dropping.

You are probably wondering what Von Willebrand Disease is and why it would effect women’s heath.  Very simply Von Willebrand disease is a bleeding disorder caused by a defect or deficiency of a blood clotting protein, called von Willebrand Factor.

It is estimated that 1% to 2% of the population and it is gentic disease which can be inherited from either parent and effect men and women equally.  This disease has no racial or ethnic factors assoiated with it and carries a 50% chance of it being pass to his/her children.  This disease and fall into four diffrent catogories:

• Type I: This is the most common and mildest form of von Willebrand disease. Levels of von Willebrand factor are lower than normal, and levels of factor VIII may also be reduced.
• Type II: In these people, the von Willebrand factor itself has an abnormality. Depending on the abnormality, they may be classified as having Type IIa or Type IIb. In Type IIa, the level of von Willebrand factor is reduced, as is the ability of platelets to clump together. In Type IIb, although the factor itself is defective, the ability of platelets to clump together is actually increased.
• Type III: This is severe von Willebrand disease. These people may have a total absence of von Willebrand factor, and factor VIII levels are often less than 10%.
• Pseudo (or platelet-type) von Willebrand disease: This disorder resembles Type IIb von Willebrand disease, but the defects appear to be in the platelets, rather than the von Willebrand factor.

Symptoms of peope with VWD are:

• Bruise easily;
• recurring nosebleeds;
• bleeds after oral surgery or tooth removal;
• bleeds after other type of surgery;
• in women increased menstrual bleeding.

To find out if you have Von Willebrand Disease (VWD) blood test can be perform to determine what type of VWD you have.  Most people are referred to a hematologist who specialized in the dagnosing and treatment of blood disorders.

1.  Pain or discomfort in the center of the chest.
2.  Pain or discomfort in other areas of the upper body, including the arms, back, neck, jaw, or stomach.
3.  Other symptoms, such as a shortness of breath, breaking out in a cold sweat, nausea, or light-headedness.

The most common sympton is chest pain but some women are more like to experience shortness of breath, nausea/vomiting, and back or jaw pain.

If you experience any of these above sympton’s call 911 immediately.  Also The Americain Heart Organization also suggest taking a Bayer Aspirin will increase your chances of survial.

Well today is my last day in Canada and on vacation.  Tomorrow, I’m going to be heading back home.

Patches and Buttons and what are called Tuxedo cats.  That means they have a white stomach and black down there back and legs. 

I got Patches from my aunt who found him when someone dropped him off in the country.  We picked him up at Christmas and he was the best Christmas present ever.  At the time we got him he was 8 months old. 

I just have to say that people who abandon animals in the country need to be shot.  I was raised on a farm and I still remembered the farmers having to get together to hunt down a pack of wild dogs who were attacking farms and killing cattle.

Buttons join our family when the same Aunt that found Patches found Buttons.  We estimated that he was the same age as Buttons and we took him home.  The poor thing had a nasty bite on his front pay that caused him pain sometimes.  We think he got the mark by being attacked by wild cats.  When we took into the vet, she suggested that we put him down.  My dad and I walked out and never went back.

Buttons was the most laid back cat and nothing bothered him.  He taught himself how to walk on a leash … yes just like a dog.  I remember taking him for a walk and was about to cross path with a dog.  I told patches to sit and he did.  The owners of the dog were shock and asked how long I have been training him.  I told them that Buttons learned all by himself and I did nothing.  He wasn’t frightened of any dogs or cats and loved everyone.  He was more dog than cat.

I lost buttons a week before Christmas of nose cancer.  When a cat cannot smell anything they stop eating.  He died in my arms on the way to the emergency room.  He was cremated.

Patches trick is to set up and beg for treats or food.  He also walks on a leash but he only goes where he wants to not where you want.  He has a kitten face with the larges black eyes and he when he wants something he turns on the sad kitten look you just melt.

Below is the picture I made of Patches and Buttons.  Buttons is the sleek looking cat and Patches is the fluffy fat one.
